“I agree completely with the premise. In this fast moving IT world if you are not continually growing and evolving, you are not just standing still, you're actually going backwards! If you are not sure your current role is helping you grow, or you are thinking about your next move give this a read, you'll get some helpful ideas from it.”

“I liked that every topic had a lot of practical advice. I feel that almost all of the content can be projected also for other jobs not related to IT. Good job!”

"I used your book advice as I saw a job I liked the look of... Straight in for a conversation about a job I thought I have zero qualifications for as they liked my CV; (it was) all because they liked the CV, good stuff - all using the tips from your book :)"

I found this book via twitter and was very sceptical at first. However, the book is small enough to read in one go and the content is great enough to revisit and have a lasting practical impact on your career and life.

So do yourself a favour and start reading this book!

Delivered in Rowe's light hearted style that has experiential depth, familiar from his social media presence. A quick read for a commute, but in with exercises afterward that may help in change or discovery.

The book contains lots of useful information. This is a short book without lots of filler, and is worth the time spent reading it.

If you've ever been in a tech role, maybe considered a career change but just never got around to doing anything about it, or worse still feel that you're stuck or heading in the wrong direction, you need to read this!
Give your career a proper shakedown, think long and hard about what you like, what you hate, and what drives you mad on a daily basis...
This book is a great read, and helps you understand that there is far more to finding a role that 'works' for you besides being a good technical fit.

This book has substance. You can read through and get the gist in about an hour, but if you take and apply the rules to your personal philosophy, your success is not an 'if', it's a 'when'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Advice for the London Job Market!!

Having worked in the IT industry for sometime now, decades in fact, much of whats contained in the authors book strikes a familiar cord. I like the tone and the truthful style and its refreshing for this to be written by someone on the recruitment side. Overall you may be aware of most of it already if you are in the industry but a good read none the less. High Praise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 26, 2020
An excellent book by a writer that clearly knows his industry inside out. A short read that can be finished in under and hour but sticks to the topic at hand without any bloat. Finished this book with a renewed appreciation for what employers are actually looking for and how the recruitment process works in the real world. The exercises have helped me to improve my CV tenfold and also identify what I actually want in the future role.
